Promoting Sustainability in Bhutan
Our vast network of partners puts us in a unique position to be able to lend support to people in some of the most remote parts of the world. In 2017, we were able to do that when working together with Austrian oven builder Christof Bader and Bhutan Network, an Austrian-based non-profit organization.
Mr. Bader traveled to Bhutan to build a bread oven for the inhabitants of the remote mountain village of Ura on 3,170 m above sea level. Together with the inhabitants of the village, he managed to build a reliable, maintenance-free bread oven in minimal time which makes it easy for all who are interested to learn to bake bread. This new oven provided the people of the village with a sustainable baking source and an educational opportunity, which will hopefully reduce the need for rural to urban migration.
We were more than happy to handle all transport and logistics services for the project which was funded entirely by private donations and sponsoring. Despite the rocky journey from the airport in Bhutan to the village of Ura, all materials from Europa reached their destination in good condition.
