We are delighted to contribute to climate protection together with METRANS by reducing CO₂ emissions through the HHLA Pure Program.
We are proud to announce that our branch in Slovakia has recently joined the initiative of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and METRANS Group to use a CO₂-neutral service for the transport of containers on the routes from and to the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Koper.
Based on our corporate motto “we take it personally,” we have set emission targets to reduce our carbon footprint and accelerate the transition towards environmentally friendly transport and logistics technologies. Our branch in the Czech Republic had already joined HHLA Pure in February 2023.
Our team in Slovakia has been focusing on environmental protection for many years. Since 2012, we have been using reach stackers instead of trucks to transport containers from the METRANS terminal to our logistics center in Dunajská Streda. And as of May 2023, we can achieve even more significant CO₂ savings:
“Thanks to the use of electric locomotives instead of the diesel ones, we can save 126 kg of CO₂ per 1 TEU on the route from Hamburg to Dunajska Streda, which is equivalent to driving 1,000 km by car. I am pleased that together, we can really contribute to climate protection and minimize our carbon footprint,” said Tibor Majzún, Managing Director of cargo-partner Slovakia.
