cargo-partner Managed a Variety of Project Cargo Challenges by Air, Sea and Land in 2017

cargo-partner has handled a variety of demanding air and sea freight projects involving oversized and overweight cargo all across the globe in 2017. This is a brief overview of project cargo challenges the company has mastered in the past year.

International transport and info-logistics provider cargo-partner has several decades of experience in transporting oversize, heavy and out-of-gauge freight by air, sea and land. With its network of offices throughout Europe, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia and North America, cargo-partner creates flexible solutions for the transport and storage of manufacturing equipment, construction machines, and vehicles, up to the relocation of entire factories. In addition, cargo-partner operates specialized project cargo competence centers in Hong Kong and Rotterdam using its long-standing operating experience and hands-on expertise in this service sector.

Tractor and steel pipes by air freight

In September 2017, cargo-partner handled the air freight transport of a tractor weighing over 4,000 kg from Delhi, India to Milan, Italy. As the client, a manufacturer of capital goods, urgently required the tractor for testing purposes, cargo-partner organized transport over the weekend, with pick-up in Delhi on Friday and arrival at the airport in Milan on Monday. This shipment posed special challenges, not only because of the commodity and its dimensions, but also because it was executed during the highest point of peak season for air exports out of India. Thanks to cargo-partner's long-standing relationships with quality airfreight carriers, the logistics provider was able to book the necessary space and offer a fast and reliable solution.

In the same month, the logistics provider managed the transport of 12 steel pipes, each 20 m long and weighing 115 t in total, for use in the oil industry by air. After organizing pick-up from Eastern Europe, cargo-partner took care of airworthy packing at the company headquarters in Fischamend near Vienna Airport. The pipes were then shipped by air freight from Vienna to Houston, Texas.

Milling machine and machine rotor by sea freight

From July to August, cargo-partner organized the sea freight transport of a vertical milling machine from Taiwan via Hamburg to Olšovec in the Czech Republic for a machine tool supplier located in Prague. The cargo, measuring 6.5 m x 4.30 m x 3.8 m, with a weight of 26.5 t, was shipped on a 40’ flat rack from Kaohsiung, Taiwan to Hamburg, Germany. From there, it continued on a low deck truck to Hostivice in the Czech Republic, where cargo-partner arranged customs clearance and delivered the shipment to the final consignee.

From August to September, cargo-partner transported a 75 t shipment consisting of a machine rotor from Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic to Lavos Figueira da Foz in Portugal. The main run was executed on a ferry from Rotterdam to Leixões and the dimensions of the cargo were 19.5m x 4m x 2.7m.

Versatile and reliable solutions for every kind of project cargo

Earlier this year, cargo-partner was approached by a client with an urgent shipment consisting of a diesel engine, gears and shafts from Tianjin, China to Vladivostok, Russia. cargo-partner arranged sea freight transport with four 40’ flat rack and four 40’ general purpose containers. The logistics provider also prepared the extensive documentation required for import customs clearance in Russia. The chosen routing to Russia via Hong Kong provided added security for such high value cargo and enabled timely delivery of the urgent shipment.

Beyond that, China proves that it is an uprising export-oriented nation with a booming economy and cargo-partner is pleased to correspond to any expectations and requirements that clients have. Whether it’s moving fuel-tank lorries to Manzanillo in Mexico, delivering a racing car from Japan to Hong Kong or shipping three urgently needed fire trucks with flat rack containers to Laos – cargo-partner found the right solutions at all times in 2017.

Christina Hainbuchner, Director of Corporate Communications & Marketing at cargo-partner, states: “Close teamwork between our cargo-partner offices around the world, strict quality procedures and commitment to fulfilling our clients’ needs are the factors that define our project cargo solutions. Our experts in handling heavy and oversize cargo in numerous cargo-partner offices across the world ensure that we deliver the best possible service to our customers, from automotive and industrial suppliers to machine manufacturers.”
